Direct pathway to study medicine with world-renowned medical universities, the RCSI & UCD via PMC

KUALA LUMPUR, January 2018Penang Medical College (PMC), Malaysia’s first accredited private medical school, recently launched the Foundation in Science (FiS) programme at the Star Education Fair 2018. The FiS is an assured pathway for high school students meeting the necessary requirements to study medicine at world-renowned medical universities, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) or University College Dublin (UCD) with PMC.

The programme incorporates the wealth of experience from the PMC medical degree programme and pre-medical programme over the last 20 years and features an early introduction into the medical field with exposure to the clinical and caregiving aspects of the medical and other healthcare professions.

Students will interact with senior medical students from the degree programme, clinicians and medical specialists.

Upon completion, PMC Foundation in Science students may begin as first-year medical students at the RCSI or UCD to begin the National University of Ireland (NUI) medical degree programme (subject to final cGPA) with 2.5 years in Ireland and 2.5 years at PMC in Penang.

Students may also choose programmes in similar fields at other institutions.

Scholarships for High Achievers

All students who obtain 8As at SPM or 7As at O-Levels or IGCSE will be given a 25% scholarship should they meet the entry requirements for the pre-university programme. PMC encourages students to aim higher to reduce the burden on parents who dedicate themselves to support students’ dreams of saving lives as a medical professional worldwide.

Exclusively for PMC Foundation in Science students, accommodation is also arranged with transport to and from the campus in the tropical island of Penang.

This launch at the education fair saw many young school leavers at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre interested in the programme.

PMC is recognised by the Malaysian and Irish Medical Councils as graduating high performing doctors.

Nearly 1,600 doctors have graduated from PMC who now practice worldwide in countries as diverse as Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Ireland, UK, Switzerland, Malta, Australia, New Zealand, USA and others.
