Lived all my life in Malaysia. I am an Indian and a Hindu by religion. I graduated from Kasturba Medical College, Mysore, India, and since then served in the public hospitals in Malaysia. I have done a fair bit of rural posting and have gained experiences in primary care, accident and emergency, orthopaedic and ENT. My last stop is psychiatry. Got my masters in psychiatry from the local university, University Sains Malaysia (USM) and since then worked as a clinical psychiatrist in a Mental Institution, Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak.

My last task is to set up psychiatric services in Hospital, Bukit Mertajam and headed the unit till I retired from public service. I was a part time lecturer at Penang Medical College and after retirement, joined Penang Medical College full time as senior lecturer.

My social obligations starts with me being a committee member of the Mental Health Association Penang, through this organisation I am able to develop a support group for antenatal and postnatal depressed mothers. Besides that the other NGO is the D’Home which is involved with family link program for patients and care givers. I also conduct weekend classes ‘education in human value’ for children and youths in the local community.

Lastly “Living a life that matters don’t happen by accident.
