Penang Medical College’s Community Outreach Society organised a “Health Screening and Promotion Camp” for the Temiar indigenous tribe in Kampung Kenang, Sungai Siput, Perak.
The student-organised camp has been building a bond here since 2010 with the aim to help promote healthy lifestyle and awareness of the various communicable and non-communicable diseases amongst the Temiar people at Kg. Kenang. PMC students also benefit from first-hand patient care and practice their skills, and communication with patients while attempting to understand their health status by screening the villagers for common diseases.
With the end of a successful health camp for the Temiar people, PMC look forward to working with Jabatan Kebajikan Orang Asli Negeri Perak (JAKOA), Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Perak and Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia for future camps.
Meanwhile the crowd outside was filling up…
