Penang Medical College (PMC) in collaboration with WABA (World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action) will be organizing a special Lactation Management event: “Making Breastfeeding Work” which will include a talk and a workshop.

Dr Genevivie Becker, an ILCA-WABA Fellow (distinguished International Lactation Consultant Association) for 2015 will open with a talk “Looking back and ahead: 25 years of BFHI (Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative)”. The aim of the talk is to look back at the successes and challenges over these years and draw lessons from them. We hope to encourage participants to reflect on their own practices and see the barriers they face in implementing the BFHI policies.

The ‘Kangaroo Mother Care’ workshop aims to teach health care professionals a simple but effective method of assisting breastfeeding especially among low birth weight infants. This interactive, hands-on workshop will be conducted by the team of trainers from the SEA-URCHIN Project.
